The tsunami, which originated
from an Indonesian Earth Quake on the 26th of
December 2004, was the worst disaster which
struck Maldives during the past century or so,
washing away homes, businesses, infrastructure
of the islands. Maldives is still recovering
from the aftereffects of the tsunami with a
lot of aid from the international community.
The Infrastructure Development section of
Ministry of Atolls Development is carrying out
projects which will aid in the recovery and
reconstruction.
